A Special Evening

March 6, 2020
7:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Human Resources
410 Cottage Home St
Los Angeles, CA 90012

On October 21, 2019, the world lost an incredible & unique artist who lived a courageous life driven to create and live by her own rules.  And at the same time, she was a sister who never said “no” when a friend or the world came asking for help.  Please join me, her family, and friends for an evening to commune and remember Haruko and share her hope and inspiration and how she touched each of our lives.

Hosted by Asher Hartman, Tuni Chatterji, & Kevin McCarty with a special performance by the Reader’s Chorus, & screenings of Haruko‘s early films. Artist Kate Brown is collecting photos and ephemera from friends and family digitally to create a zine to preserve Haruko‘s memory.  Please email Kate Brown with your contributions.  A recording booth will be available for anyone to share their memories about Haruko, which will be shared with family and friends and preserved on www.kissoftheworld.net. This night is all about sharing. After the short program, the night is created for everyone to be with one another, sharing their stories, laughing, and loving. Please consider bringing a snack and beverage to contribute. This memorial is open to the public. Please spread the word.

“PRESCRIPTION: SOCIAL MEDIA” LA LAUNCH PARTY DECEMBER 11

EPFC | December 11th, 2019

“We are witnessing the most important technocultural medical revolution of the past century.”–The first generation of e-patients, Tom Ferguson and Gilles Frydman, BMJ 2004

Healthcare has been defined by the physicians and institutions with near complete disregard for the patient, the most important person in the healthcare web.  This dynamic is changing. Patients are taking health into their own hands by building communities, even developing their own treatments. With these radical developments it is inevitable that there are unforeseen problems.

Join us for celebrating the start of this project. We will be sharing drinks, stories and some original videos.

About Dagie Brundert

I was born in a small town in the middle of West Germany. Beautiful nature, but boring after a while… I moved to Berlin and studied visual arts / experimental film. Fell in love with my Super 8 camera (Nizo) in 1988. Since then I try to be a particle-finder, a wave-catcher and a good story-teller. I try to absorb weird beautiful things from this world. Chew them and spit them out again. http://dagiebrundert.de/

With a special focus on youth and media-marginalized populations, EPFC programs and services use cinema as catalyst to inspire, educate and activate people around the world. Reimagining the traditional artist residency as street-level engagement, EPFC’s LA AIRport is an eco-friendly custom trailer funded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that transforms itself into a mobile residency space, cinema/projection portal and analog film lab in the blink of an eye!  http://www.archive.echoparkfilmcenter.org/
